hello,

problem:

when I save the physique data as phy file... and reload the phy file... all locked vertices are lost... :argh:

it's the same mesh... and no bones were added before I reload the phy file...

software: CS 3.2 and max 4.2

if someone knows about this problem and has any idea how to solve it... pleeeeeeaaaase help... :)

Best Regards,
Vadim

Note: characters studio 3, no longer saves or loads the Vertex Assign (.vph) file format due to the dramatically improved vertex assignment method of envelopes and weights. Game developers needing access to this vertex data should use the Physique SDK included with the software.

This is what I found in the online reference :hmm:

maybe try to do it the other way around, replace the old mesh with the new mesh on the good phy setting, using replace or merge...and hope that max wont crash :surprised

hello,

thank you very much for the answer, Oren Ben-Tov... :)

but when I understand it right... the .vph was just another file format that isn't longer supported...

but usually the locked vertices are saved with the phy file... and the only situation they are lost is when one adds or removes a bone...

just tried your tip with replacing the mesh... but it also replaces the physique modifier... :(
over that it would only help with the current mesh... but I need the correct phy-file for adding more objects later (cloth, armour, etc.)...

but again... thank you very much...

No problems
I watched your yeah dude , very funny :)

just one last thought, try to use the merge animation option, on your old mesh with the new one( delete the phy modifier first ), all though max crashed down on me when I tried it, but you can decide there exactly what you want to replace(modifiers, materials, controllers ... and so on)

good luck

hello,

thanks, Oren Ben-Tov!!! :)

after two days of try and error we just found out how to fix the descriped problem... and thought we should share it here... in case someone else is running in the some problem...

okay... we didn't find out why the problem occurs...

however... we found out... that when the locked vertices are not saved correctly in the phy file... also the envelope parameters are disabled (see physique01.jpg)...

to fix this... just press the "Reinitialize" button... and change the "No Blending" option in the "Vertex-Link Assignment" section to "N Links" (see physique01a.jpg)... don't change anything else... und just press the "Initialize" button...

now the Envelope parameters enabled... AND... the locked vertices will be saved correctly with the phy file...

hope it helps someone... :)

best regards,
Vadim

I had exactly the same problem, but unfortunately the solution you came up with is of no use in my case. Neither the envelopes are enabled or locked vertice remain! I also found out as you did that this problem occurs only when "No blending" has been selected during physique initialization.
