Hi, i'm new here... I'm having a big problem, so hope someone can help. :P

I've built a head model in Zbrush 2 imported it into Messiah Animate, rigged and animated it there saved the file.. opened 3dsmax 5.1 went to the utilities panel selected the messiah tab.. clicked the Open GUI.. went into Messiah Animate and then when i open the file i saved with the head and animation.. it's totally messed up.. there is only a black flat polygon with just some of the bones there.... when i try to import to see if it works then.. it just hangs!
Someone please help... would really appreciate if someone gave me a step by step on how to get it into max..

1.Open your object in Max.
2.connect your object to Messiah
2.save your connected object from within Messiah as a LWO 6 file
4 CLose Messiah and Max.
5 animate your LW object in Messiah standalone.
6 when you are done - open clean max scene, launch Messiah (you can launch it from tools tab in max) -
7 load your animated scene with LWO object - and connect it to MAX (f12)
8 apply the Pointcache modifier on your connected object - save out the pointcache file.

all you need is this pointcache file, witch contains vertex animation of your object.
you can then reapply this to your original textured max object. and save the max scene, without messiah connection. it will be easy to use, and network render friendly

hmmm, weird.
Try a different max connection plugin.
I remember max connecion for 4.2 worked with 5, or so.

but yeah, the connection with Animate 3 was pretty much ..hmm, difficult to use.
its definately working better with Animate 4 and 5

cheers

In a little bit, Mark WIlson will update his Point Oven plugin - hopefully with Max version of MDD reader. This will solve a lot of Messiah/Max connection probs.

http://www.ef9.com/ef9/PO.htm

this plugin lets you write MDD files(similar to max point cache - vertex displacement files) from Messiah, and read them back in Max.

so far it is the easiest way to exchange the animation data with Messiah /max
