CGTalk - Problem keying in Character Studio

I'm setting a key on the shoulder of my biped, at the same time keys are set (automaticly) on the bicep, forarm, hand, all the fingers... Why? Can't I set keys on the arm without the entire structure gets keys as well? If that's the case it ****in sucks!

yes , you can separate the tracks, just turn on the check box for the separate tracks in the animation properties.
it will open 4 tracks for the arm instead of one
