For anyone who does composite,,
Is After Effects good for Rotoscoping and compositing?
I know is mainly used for broadcast design,.. I have used it couple years back to do simple composite,, nothing major..
but I am thinking if After Effects can handle high resolution rotoscoping and compositing with 3D elements.....

thanks in advance~

I learned how to composite on After Effects, so it is good for compositing. The tutorials at dvGarage (http://www.dvgarage.com/) are a great introduction, and dvGarage even sells After Effects plug-ins for taking most of the hard work out of creating compositing mattes.

However, I think other software have better rotoscoping tools, like Pinnacle Commotion Pro or any of discreet's effects and composition products like combustion. You can still do rotoscoping in After Effects, but it would just take you a little longer, that's all.
