View Full Version : Seamless Looping Particle System?

I have searched high and low for a tutorial for this, read through all the Combustion 3 documentation, and unless I am blind and retarded (a possibility) . . .

I am trying to create a seamless looping particle animation, specifically a flaming torch effect to be used in a computer game environment. No matter what I try, I can't get a seamless transition between the first and the last frame of the particle sequence. The sequence is 50 frames in length.

Are there any methods of doing this?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Speve-O!

I just finished a project where I had to do lots of looping sequences with the CS3 particle system.

In addition to the useful method described in the thread at Creative (linked from Damo's post), I ended up using a variety of custom transitions between clips using masks, not only dissolves. For some footage, it looked better to draw an irregular mask with a little feathering of the one layer, and then get rid of that mask by animating it in the direction of the particles, at about the same speed as the particles or a little faster. I also animated the individual control points of the mask a bit at random, to make it even harder to recognize the transition. Good luck to you!
