View Full Version : Freepyro for Max 5 or 6? Or other free fire plugins.

Does anyone know if Freepyro was ever released for recent versions of max? I've found no mention on Cebas' site, so I assume not. Which is inconvenient because I might have to go back and re-render an old scene that it was used in (circa Max3.1).

Am i right in thinking plugins for max4 will work in max5? In which case was there ever a version for Max 4 or above?

If it isn't available, are there any other (free) realistic looking fire plugins? I've got Blur Fire which is OK, but not that realistic looking and only seems to work off atmospheric apparatus. I'd rather it was particle based like Freepyro was. It curled around objects in the scene in a pleasing way.

Thanks

Go to allan's page http://www.AllanMcKay.com - Pf way. New video tutorial. That is the best for now.

Thanks for that. Yes the motion of the fire is very good. The wind attractor is a good idea, I might use that. But the quality of the flames themselves isn't as good as the Freepyro original. None of the examples I've seen made with regular materials look right. The fire is the main focus of the scene so I can't get away with it looking OK.

I might have to look into the full version of Pyrocluster. Which is a bit expensive just to re-render a scene I made years ago. Anyone know whether I'd be able to use the existing Freepyro settings in Pyrocluster? Or if I'd be able to get the same results starting from scratch?
Thanks.
