View Full Version : modelling a car
drhein 08-09-2004, 09:52 PM This is my first car ever, and i used polygon modelling. I have obviously not connected the other half and i am missing a lot of details still, but i was just wanting some C&C. I will keep on updating it. I know it's not perfect, but it's a start. I need some critique to make myself better.

Looks like a great start there. Is it a Subaru? Try pushing the front wheel into the car more because it sticks out too much.
All I can say is that if you stick with it... your skills will improve and you will start making photorealistic stuff.
Good job.

thanks for the comment. I am slowly adding details and i will post wires soon, but I am having a hard time with the headlights. Do you have any tricks to make them look realistic?

just a general tip
if your going to use raytracing on the floor u might wanna turn off shadows as it looks kinda off
other then that good car, the trick to good headlights would probably be a good texture

Well, this is what I would do with the head lights. I would make the front bit flat and then a separate object the interior of the head light. Then add a couple of cylinders inside that you can tweak into looking like head lights. Maybe even model the light bulbs. The model looks better and better. 2 Things that you should change: 1. Make the when arches sharper by chamfering the edges with a small amount. 2. the roof support pole thing next to the front windshield should be thinner.
Good luck.
