Folks,

Last night I tried my hand with Autorig, setting up a character I'd modelled in Lightwave. I saved it and shutdown. This morning, I tried to load the project, and Messiah crashes while it loads. Happens repeatedly. Windows pops up the usual "MessiahStudio.exe has encountered a problem.... click HERE for more information about the error. Doing so gives me

Error signature

AppName: messiahstudio.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: auto_rig.mp
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000f7ae

Anyone know whats causing this? This is my first messiah project..

I cant attach the offending project for some reason, but you can get it here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I dont have a solution, but your project file crashes messiah on my work system too.
I think that file is just corrupt.
I used to get that in 3dsmax alot before.
In Max the fix was to import the scene, then a list would ask what to import from scene file.
Pick the objects 1 by one and usually the offending object or scene data would not import.
so some things would be salvageable to a degree.
If there is a way to do or implent the above in Messiah then that would be of some help.
Or a Messiah Project viewer?

Pixelnoir, I forwarded your problem to the relevant parties. They'll post with more info.

Thanx for the assist, Nando... as always

This one's kinda tricky to track down, I've got the scene though and I'm looking into it.

Thanks,

Thanks, Ron. I've started from scratch - but I'd love to know what happened. Its made me a bit wary of autorig. BTW.. whats the difference between a Messiah SCENE and a Messiah PROJECT?

BTW.. whats the difference between a Messiah SCENE and a Messiah PROJECT?The project file actually contains the objects and images, whereas the scene file is just sort of "what is done" with the objects and images. Project files are really just there to make it easier to send scenes to people and not have to zip up a scene file, objects, and images. Plus, since all of that is included in the project file, the Project Directory setting doesn't matter.
