The POV-Team annouced the POV-Ray Competition 2004:

"The aim of POVCOMP 2004 is to show the full potential of POV-Ray. All artists are invited to participate and create groundbreaking images with POV-Ray to win one of 25 neat prizes from our sponsors (total retail value in excess of $14,000)."




First prize is a $10,000 64-bit Appro computer system.
Second prize is a $2,500 zazzle.com shopping spree.
Third prize is a $1,000 zazzle.com shopping spree.
4th-25th place prizes are zazzle posters.

Man I loved POV ray when I used it and that's some SERIOUS PRIZES MAN!!!! Best of luck to those who enter... I just don't use POV ray enough anymore. :D

I was reading the rules and I'm guessing that anything rendered with an official version of POV-Ray will be acceptable. I saw this popular Blender script "povanim" for POV-Ray that was made by one of the coolest Blender python scripters in the news section over on the POV-Ray website.-

I have tested this script out myself and it works very well as a way of getting your Blender work to render with POV-Ray. One of the 3d scene renders on the Blender Siggraph demo reel was produced with this script and rendered in POV-Ray.


This looks like it will be a very interesting contest.

That's right, you are completely free in the use of your tools, the images just have to be rendered with POV-Ray in the end. The judging is going to focus on the skills of the artist shown and the appeal of the image. The complete rules can be found on:
