Hi,

Well my problem is that I don't know how to round the ends of this thing:
Plz go to http://de.geocities.com/cshapeshifter/ and click on roundingproblem.jpg

I made it out of a curve, that you can see in the middle, i revolved it from 0° to 60° and rotated so that it is straight, like now. and at the ends I now just did a planar, but I'm no satisfied.
I allready tried the roundtool, there it says "Error: Round: All fillets failed." If I use a circular fillet, it doesn't make the whole edge, but just the straight lines, in the corners it leaves holes. And with just moving vertices or hulls I dont get to an great thing.
So what do you recommend?

Thanks alot for your help,

I don't see why the round tool wouldn't work. Is the radius set too large causing it to fail?

No I dont think. I dont need a big rounding, just a little little bit, so it hasnt this sharp edge.
Heres the roundtoolradius I want to use:

And sorry, for these "linkinstructions" but directlinking doesnt work unfortunately...

Can you host the maya file so I can look at it. You might just need another set of eyes so we can figure out what the deal is.

No problem with the link directions. That's actually easier that doing the cut&past thing.

*edit - have you tried deleting history on the object before attempting the round?

ok, thanks that you're looking at it: http://de.geocities.com/cshapeshifter/ then roundingproblem.zip

*edit: no, deleting history didn't work, either...

I got it to work with:
Radius: 0.001
Tolerance Value: Override
Positional: 0.0001 slider all the way to the left

On your object the outside bottom corner is pretty tight radius. Your rounding has to be able to make this turn.

Thanks! Now you found the problem, why the roundtool didn't work, well, that 0.001-radius doesn't look too satisfying, but well, I'll have to try it another way, cos like this it wont work for me...
Thanks anyway!
