View Full Version : The Mark of Kri
AnimBot 08-02-2002, 07:52 AM Has anyone else had a chance to play it yet? It's a great game with a prettey unique style very inovative fight system and fun stealth. The big winner for me though is the artwork I have never played a game where I actually looked forward to seeing the art gallery, this is the first. All the cutscenes, and loading screens are these incredibly expressive line drawings . They usually start out as blank canvas and layer after layer is drawn on while the narrative goes. Once the drawings done it then fades ro the in game representation of that drawing. I can't help but be amazed everytime I see it. The artist are former Disney artist to give you an idea of the style and quality. I'm curious what others think about it.

I have seen the art for the game and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. It is refreshing to have that kind of style in a game today. The last game I saw with style this savvy was Herdy Gerdy, and that game rokked!
I will have to see if our games library at work has a copy in, then I will let you know what I thought of the gameplay.

Ok just finished beating Mark of Kri it's a fantastic game!!! It's so much deeper than I thought it would be. It's crazy at some points it almost resembles a puzzle game. I can't say enough good things about the fight system. The animation is very well done also. It's so over the top it reminds me of Devil May Cry sometimes, probably even more so. Overall It's a really well designed game. On another note I also really liked the style of Herdy Gerdy. I still haven't played it though. Would you guys suggest it's worth purchasing or just renting? Ah yes and ICO the crown jewel of my collection, possibly my favorite game ever. I seem to really be drawn to these cross genre games, I love it!!

I got the new PS2 demo disk that had Mark of Kri and I liked the demo a lot! I plan to buy the game when I can scrounge up $40. :)
AnimBot, how many stages are in the game, and how long did it take you to beat it?
Persoanlly, I didn't like Herdy Gerdy.. Well I did like it (animations and art direction were great), but the camera angles and control were so horrible it was pretty much frustrating, so I returned it went back to EB and I picked up Mr. Mosquito and Stretch Panic instead. :)
ICO was great, I rented it from Blockbuster and beat in in a week. I hope they make ICO 2.

The Game is about 10 hours long but that's if you just go straight through. There are tony hawk like tasks that you have to complete in each stage, and there is a special object that you have to look for in each stage. Once you complete all the tasks on a stage it opens up an arena where you have to fight people off in a limited amount of time and those arenas have tasks to complete during the fighting as well. When you complete those you get an extra outfit. So even though I beat the main game I'm still actually playing the arenas and replaying levels that I missed.
