Geta-Ve 08-05-2004, 12:04 AM Hey all, well to start getting my creative juices (if they exist) flowing I decided to do another inspired character, although this time I wont tell you what it was inspired from as Im sure you guys can tell for yourselves :)
Just a note, this has be extremely fun to work on so far, and im approaching the 5 hours mark i think.. most of the time was spent with the legs and actually wondering if they would work.. and i think they would..
Anyways enjoy..

and the .wings file for anyone to look at :) (also the spine tail was inspired from martin krols mech animal model, which i'd seriously kill to get a closer look at :p)

Still doesn't look much like me! Not bad. But something bothers me on some of your image post, and lots of other wings3d users. Turn the unselected edge width to 1.0, instead of 2.0. 2.0 just scares me.

i love your stuff so far, very nice. May i ask, did you use any sort of a guide to get started on your modelling? I've been self-teaching for a while, and i could use some structure :P
Looking great so far, great learning tool for me as well :)
Abotu your Daemondem, i tried some armour to him, and i like how it came out, when i get my good PC back from the shop (damn ram), ill post pics :P

Yay! someone finally did something constructive with my model :D would really love to see those pics :)
About the guide, no I didnt. I started pretty much from the thought of pinky from doom3.. I had no clue what he REALLY looked like but i had a vague image that I really liked in my mind, so I started from a cube, blocked our the front part then went to the back blocked that out and then proceeded to do the legs in the next 5 hours.. lol THEN i went and got some reference for the rest.. :P
pretty much you SHOULD start from reference, but unless you have a good clear image of how it should come out then ya start from reference. but you still need those sessions where its all random. :)
Thanks for the words man!

Thats the biggest issue for me right now, finding good front top and side view reference images.
Any idea where i could get some to just start out?
Also, how do i "attach" them to the x,y, and z planes?

Hit space to deselect everything, then right click and click Image plane. Choose your image, and, POOF! You can rotate the plane to align with the X, Y or Z axes.
Hope that helped.
Great job Mike, Your model is getting better and better!:D

One thing I would like to see with the advanced menus is the ability to;
Right-Click and choose Image Plane
Then before the image selection(or after)get a popping menu offering X,Y,Z.

Is this your own from scratch idea ? Very nice regardless. Looks like you are starting to really gain full control over Wings3D. I hope the Dog is going to have a sick looking face.
I would offer to vertex color this guy for you free of charge ! LOL. What renderer do you use ?
Are you going to ultimately try AutoUV for unwrapping this puppy ?

Hey MJ, nah im not THAT good to unwrap him.. lol im just a simple modeller :p
And man, whatever you want to do with him its free game :) i dont mind at all :D\
Thanks for the comments as well, and ya this is my own idea.. well sorta.. the actual robot/dog was inspired from doom3 pinky creature but other than that its my idea :)
