Very nicely done!
What software did you use?
The watch looks very good, but the backround could use a tune-up :)

cheers

the software used is cinema 4d xl v7.3 and i am currently adding a wood brain bump to the painted wooden window sill, so lets hope that works. i dont want to clutter the scene and i think that will work well, so lets see

yes it is a great gift from my sone also it is a 1920s silver watch so he will end up with it once he is 21 years old

that is a really nice render, but there seems to be some distortion in the reflection, a little pinch near the center.

I guess you can't do much about that.

The watch face looks realistic, but the ground/backdrop is too plain.

i am now claiming the kink in the reflection on a dent in the lid i mean it is an old watch so there has to be atleast one dent.
thats my excuse and i am sticking to it :bounce:

the back ground is actually my window sill in my office so colours are the same and there is nothing realy intresting there. but like i said the model is the star here ( i think) and the wood bump should lift the back ground a bit

we will see

(bump)(sorry)( i am )( no really i am )

imagine if u will (knows this is going to be a tuff one) a round bottomed object with only the center of it hiting the ground
well that my dear fellow is what we have here so ofcourse it looks like it is floating it hasnt got a flat bottom and bery little is atctualy on the floor. hope that clears that up for the 6th time

Its a fantastic image, but I'm going to have to agree on the "floating" thing as well. I know that a watch like that has a little convex shape at the back. I had one myself, once. But the inital shock of a floating watch is still apparent. I think it has to do with the render itself, the shadow is too light, there's a dark shadow being cast by the window sill, but the watch casts virtually no shadow at all (it's actually a huge shadow, just very faint). Hence the illusion. If you can ramp up the cast shadow a little, I think it would help. Try it after you get the woodgrain going on the window sill.

well like i said before i am doing a darker tighter shadow to try and lock the watch to the sill so stay tuned

This is looking really nice..the sill is way better.

Only things I'd say is I like the look of the bottom two images, but the watch face from the top two, or the original..the gradients are kind of distracting..unless they're on the real watch. Also, does it have a very rounded back on it? The dark contact shadow is great, but seems to be floating. Also, what's holding the chain ring up? Tightly jointed there?

Anyway, cool stuff..should combine it with the other objects on the sill and make a 'time for coffee and cigs' image. :D

yes the face on the watch is the same as this one, the gradients are shadows from the recesses in the face ( i am trying to sort them out a bit )
yes it has a round bottom on it hence the floating
and the ring is tight in there
i have done a early render with cigs and a cup maybe i will show them later or re render them thanks for liking it though :)
