View Full Version : Character: Old man Face.
Eremos 08-01-2002, 02:50 AM Hi,
This is my second post,
3D character modeled in Lightwave, including UV coordinates,
maps in Photoshop, Color, difussion, specular and Bump.
Work time about 2 days.
Very simple and fast lighting setup.
Is Ugly, I know, and he has a very special anatomy, but is based on a real guy.
I hope you like it.

I like this character. the smile and the hat are too funny!! Are you going to model and animate the rest of him?

Looks good, I'd love to see the uv. However when first looking at it I wasn't sure that it was a guy, but that was probably because of the hat thing on his head.
Hi Igor !
Very real. Good work!
see you ;)

:surprised Freaky!
Excellent work! That character is seriously freaky though - it's that smile...
I do think that the teeth texture should be tweaked ever so slightly - they need to appear a little more wet. At the moment they look like dried bone.
Apart from that though, it's an awesome piece

Hi,
Thank you for all your comments,
Yeah, the teeth looks a little bit flat, is because of the lighting I guess, but also Leigh has a point too, a little wet look could make it be even more freaky!
Anyway, I think I'm losing a lot of detail of the mesh with the lighting I did or the material of the face.
Here I include another image without the color map where you can see the detail on the mesh.
Hey Glider! nice to see hear from you...

the eyes look like glass.
Other than that, the image is very, um , strange.

can you show an untextured view? It looks like your texture map is doing TOO much work compared to the mesh. An imbalance I should say.

Here is the mesh,
I know the texure map is imposing a lot over the geometry.
in the second image there is not color map at all.

only used 2 days ? everything? modeling textures lighting?
woow, it is impossible. you are damn fast!!!:applause:

Well,
It was fast because I'm modelling a lot of faces lately..
but also, the back of the head is unfinished (I don't think I'm going to finish it, because I'm focusing on the faces now.)
Also as I mentioned before, I use a very simple lighting setup,
A skydome with HDRI and a main Area with a filling spot light,
nothing too fancy.
But thank you for your coments.
_DD: He is really a freak, and that is why I model it! I'm glad
he really disturbs you!
I've been doing too much cute girls...

That looks pretty good.
The part of the modelling which is improvable IMHO is the shape forced by the smile. Itīs a bit too rough and "strong" giving the model a bit too much of "The Joker" face if you know what I mean.

He He,
Is funny, just a couple of days ago I decided that I didn't like at all the way he looks like, so I decided to repaint the maps. and add some fur....
Also I did some geometry fixes. (like the "joker" face)
I think is looking better.
