Hi,
Here is a character that I just finished.

Dunno if it's already been mentioned but... how much of the textures is hand painted and how much is photos?

ivo D
07-30-2004, 11:30 AM
well all i can say is that most of the textures look great, accept for the nails way to much reflection and spec.

overpainted photo would be my choice..
there is no need to create textures from scratch, why if you have a digital camera or something.

but looking nice.. you nailed him

I do agree that the nose and ear are fighting for attention though. I wish the ears were smaller.

Awwww, c'mon! You know it's just a prop to show off his character! Cut the guy some slack! I'm sure he spent a lot of time on it: Create:Primitive:Plane.

For "me" that's like posting a finished piece but not having the two halves welded leaving the seam down the middle. Something that should have been taken care of.

Cool image. Nice details and texturing.

What displacement vs. DOF problems did you have? And would that be max' native geometry based displacement, or third party renderer?

I dont want to deface your illustration because i love it. The amount of detail is truely breath-taking.

However, it seems to me that his knuckles (the hand knuckles, not the finger ones) are a bit misplaced. Im looking at my hand and my knuckles are about a half inch further down my hand. If you look at references, you can see that your knuckles actually start IN your hand instead of right where your fingers meet your hand.

Just nit-picking.

great modelling !

but are'nt the proportions a little off ?
it might be my low-cost monitor distorting the image -
but some subtile details do not fit - i mean - i can't name it -
but there's really something WRONG with this picture ?!?!?

Texxx...

I was looking at the picture of Pascal Couchepin and noticed that one of his MOST DISTINCTIVE characteristics is that his ear lobes are big...not that his ears are big...I would keep the whole ear big, but would like to see the earlobes the proportionally dominate part of the ear...

just wanted to lend a hand...or something

gr8 wrk!!!

yes...i think that texx is RIGHT ON, except that his ear proportions or REVERSED the ear lobe should be proprotionally larger than the helix and antihelix...

thanks for the comments..would like to hear texxxs opinion...perhaps

Thanks for the all the comments.

You are Right, Funxer, Lobes are too small, no doubt.
