View Full Version : Problem exporting to video via premiere
Grgeon 07-27-2004, 10:47 PM Hi,
I'm having trouble transferring my demo reel to put on vhs. I've done it before, but on my mac with final cut pro.
Right now i'm using my pc and using Premeire. This is how I have it set up: I got a firewire connected from the pc to my digital camcorder, and a/v ouput connected to my vcr. This is how i had it set up with my mac.
The problem: I can't get the reel to show on my tv or my camcorder. All that shows up is 4 small squares that kinda show the images from my reel and they're flickering. Also, i can't get premiere to play back the timeline smoothly.
I've tried Print to Video and Export to Tape. Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks,
George

Maybe the file codec ?
i don`t know what file format that FCP output is ..(maybe quicktime?)
but accroding to your description, i think maybe the problem is on codec
some codec compress complex, so that need faster machine to process (like divX)
or maybe the file format is not appropriate for premiere..
i use premiere`s function " Export to tape",with AVI(Microsoft DV AVI file format)
can actually export to my DV ..
check the file type...and hope this help..

Hmmm, can you post your settings your using? If you post them, then maybe we can see what's wrong.

If your everything is hooked up properly, your movie should show on the camera when you preview in premier. If this isn't happening, then I would check the settings in your camera's menu. What type of camera are you using by the way? Because I've had some trouble with my Sony DCR-VX2000. Also try checking your device control settings in premier.
I personaly don't like using export to tape, I just record on the camera or VCR while the movie is playing.

Yeah, i agree with augusträsse, i don't use export to tape either, seem to do weird things everyonce in awhile. By the way, what settings r u using project wise in premiere? This would be a big help for us all to help you. vbmenu_register("postmenu_1643291", true);

hey guys,
sorry for not replying sooner. I totally forgot about this thread. hehe. I had since burned a qt file and did the video transfer on my mac in fcp as that's what i usually do it in and it worked fine. I don't remember the settings i had. I'll look them up and post them later as this is still important for me to know for future reference. Thanks for helping out on this. I tried many different setting but i'll post the general settings I last had in my last attempt.

sorry to post my problem here 'Grgeon' -
well to all the mates out there --
i'm using
using premiere pro
6 mints video
pal
sony tcr 310e
adaptec firewire card
can capture realtime in dv format
now the issue -
i've finished my project which has about 2-3 layers.
i imported that into a new sequence to color correct.
after making preiew it plays back in realtime.
but when i switch the cam to vcr mode i do not see the video on the lcd.
even export to tape does not work.
instead there is this still image on the which says ' exporting to dv ' in multiple languages.
the record button gets on and there is only blue screen recording.
i have tried switching the a/v in-out on-off too in the camera menu.
i do use 2 hard drives. my os (xp ) and editing is done on a 120gb seagate barricuda - 7200rpm.
can anyone pls sniff out the problem for me.
-thanks
andy
