View Full Version : Concept painting: Subspace Vehicle
I-NetGraFX 07-25-2004, 09:34 AM Hi there,
I had a small break for a while.
Although I've got plenty of work to do, I've found some time
to kick around in Corel Painter, using my Wacom A4 board.
The Pic shows some fantasy vehicles in it's environment.
Cold Blue and Toxic Green . . .

. . . critics and comments are very welcome!
Thanks for viewing.

I like the metal reflection, and the "under water world" feeling.

I was wondering how did you do the nice metal reflection? It looks really good.

Thanks for your reply!
This's my first try in Painter.
Ususally I do my paintings with Photoshop.
I realized the reflections with the glow brush in the FX tab.
I think this tool is quite useful, when you use a dark and slightly saturated color.

i liked the metal reflection,too..i think it would look better if you wouldn't make the edges of the objects so blurry...that blurry feeling weakens the metallic effect i think

I think what others have said about the edges being a bit too soft is right. Also, be careful with those additive glow effects. They can look very cheesy and digital if you use them too heavily. It's a nice design though . . . I like the flow of the seams.

Thanks, balistic and zabid for your helpful comments!
I didn't took enough time to block out the mask properly, after i did the lighting, with the glow brush. Maybe I should pay a bit more attention to the contours of the object.
Indeed they should be sharper.
Flares look cheesy when overdone, that's absolutely right.
I think lighting is the fun part, when painting an image.
Not to less, not too much.
