at what point does one realize the need for opengl (quadro) over D3D (radeon)?
i have a fx 500, now on ebay :) and all of my games blow ass, and the only thing that runs well is wings3d. when wings was running i loved it, damn near impossible to slow it down in my normal modelling routine. max on the other hand, with the same model, would be very slow. I have a suspicion it's the card.
anyhow, i was wondering how often you reach into the realms where opengl really shines? i consider myself to be a serious cg guy, but i am not too sure if and when i actually fully utilize opengl.
so i am at a dillema, should i stick with the quadros and get a 1000/1100 or say screw it and go with a radeon 9800? anyone have good times with a radeon and max? does the radeon even have opengl support or purely d3d?
thanks
