i would like to know how the Petrol Ltd. made the CNN ident..I'm really new to compositing..but it looks like made with Flash then exported to combustion to another layer or something ?
What's the trick for making that kind of futuristic compositings ?

Hi there Okan,

I think you'll find that the "flash" type stuff was done using "paint" directly in combustion. If you read about Petrols formula one sequence quote...."One particular highlight we've discovered within combustion is paint. We had this idea of highly complex graphic elements that form and deform within the sequence. With solid experience of other high-end software packages, I know it's a very long process and laborious task. The vector-based paint in combustion allowed us to create these very detailed animations, which could be fine-tuned and re-scaled easily. Results and speed were satisfying and we decided to add more to the sequence as well."
I'd think that a blend of 3d, live action and combustion is what the doctor would order!

Hi Okan,

on the plugins front, I'd hate to recommend something that doesn't fit in with the type of work that you do. All my work is for broadcast graphics so I like stuff like the Genarts Sapphire plugins, which cost quite a bit but are very good for the type of work that I do and I've found them to be very stable ( I use a Mac by the way, so some plugins you might be able to use on windows might not be available to me sadly like Trapcodes 3dstroke ) A good place to start with a list is here http://store.adobe.com/products/plugins/aftereffects/main.html this is a list of pretty much all of the AE plugins. You can cross refrence their compatability with C3/2 at discreets website.
My advice is to try the demo versions of anything that takes your fancy and make your purchasing decisions based on whether they will be of use in the sort of work you will be doing and that they are compatible. Also (and I'm no expert) you might find that combustion can do the same as the plugins anyway when you use multiple operators.

regards

paul
