Hey guys, my apologies if i am as bad at explaining as I usually am.

What im wanting to do is an aniamtedspace warp kind of effect. Like travelling at a high speed through stars. I can get the sort of look I want on a still by using after effects noise, and a combination of both or either trapcodes shine and or final effects light burst.

this is an example of what im trying to do in a still..

So at the moment The animation kind of looks like caustic rays coming down towards the camera. What I want is for them to be disjointed in z space. So that it looks its travelling through the medium.

Hope That sort of explains it..

Cheers,
Biggy.

You need some sort of particles / stars flying past yeah? That will give the impression of zooming along. I did this recently with a 2d starfield image distorted with optics compensation and several similar layers blended and mixed together seamlessly. It worked quite well.

as in ae particles ?

or other 3d program.. Another 3d program would be easier but i wanted to keep it in ae.

Put everything You want to distort in a composition and try the "Distort --> optical compensation"-FX (only in the Pro ?). Activate the invertion of the filter and then tweak the FOV-Setting.

To get a more fascinating effects, duplicate the composition with the filter and change the transfer mode, than you could animate the visibility of the upper composition to fade in this FX. Or add Trapcode Shine again to the single Composition.

Hope it helps

did the trick

thanks webster!

Well, opt-dis. can give bad results, if the FOV is tweaked too high. You could fake the "speed" by adding a Radial /Fast Blur and a glow/shine to the layer while the FOV-Animation is going on.

But it could multiply render-times :/

That was pretty much exactly what I said, only more detail. Sorry I wasn't a bit mor clear.

Yes Ian Jones, I do realise this.

infact so far i havent got a reply to what I was REALLY asking. But obviously this is because I wasnt clear enough as to the effect I wanted.

However, it did the trick as I did a different effect using the information i learnt.
