V-Ray.EXE. A new project that will evolve as a standalone application, not bound to any 3D package. It will have connections to Alias Maya™, discreet 3dsmax™ and probably more in the future.

Thats real great news. Any word about a bridge app for c4d (for architectural interiors with gi mostly) would be even better news. This is realy kool though.

I'm going to give this a whirl. I've been waiting for this renderer. Some of the work rendered in V-Ray by Max users is just outstanding...

Nice. Yet another renderer available for us all! When can we non-3DSMax users have Brazil? ;)

Hi there,

vlado right? I'm a mostly maya user but have been using vray for the last couple of months and its fantastic. Is there an online gallery where samples of images from vray.exe is shown? Haven't looked at the info you posted but whats the news on the integration of vray.exe to maya's animation pipeline? etc.

Thanks!

* does the vrmesh export option mean that all animation info / keyframes will be lost and that vray.exe will only be useful for stills? or is it only during the dev. period?

TheGreenGiant - this is the only info I found. The only way is to test it by your self. I think it doesn't work with maya 6.

p.s. yes vlado :)

I hope the vray and maxon people see this.out of 10 posts 4 are requesting bridge to c4d and i know of many more.

an XSI bridge would be most welcome too. although XSI's MR integration is pretty much second to none, an alternative would be excellent, and would help to persuade studios to switch.

i suggest you guys that want a c4d version post at www.chaoticdimension.com/forums/ so you can put your feedback directly in front of the chaos group guys :)

I guess an XSI bridge would be ok. They'll probably add bridges for most of the well known 3d apps when Standalone Vray is released.

Xsi is built around mentalray its pretty much 1 program. Ill try posting at the chaos group forum but it takes both chaos and maxon to make it work if im not mistaken. Im sure theyll see this too.

Hello!

Vray is cool! I'm glad that there will be a standalone version :). But, i hope that they will make a "bridge" to cinema 4D ! It would be nice to have such a renderer to use with C4D :bounce:

an XSI bridge would be most welcome. Mr is perfectly integrated in xsi but in order to build a mr renderfarm you need to rob a series of banks.

I can pretty much guarantee you that the chaos developing team is not going to look at this thread very much. You guys need to post in the vray forum if you want to be heard.

your right that we shoul post in the vray forum but i think that there are people from chaos that might stumble upon this thread. Not that i think its seriously going to make a diference but they might keep it in mind.

Posting at our own forum maybe a good idea in order for us to respond.

Hi there,
vlado right? I think you got the wrong Vlado here, but I wonder why didn't Vlad74 say that?

I hope the vray and maxon people see this.out of 10 posts 4 are requesting bridge to c4d and i know of many more.We did take note of that. But there are many other notes we have taken prior to this one.

A standalone is a good news, but I definitly would prefer a nice integration à la max for other softwares. It's not so practical to jump softs to do your whole creation.

I don't understand. It's $799 for a renderer, but doesn't the new $499 XSI Foundation come with Mental Ray, along with a modeling/texturing/animating suite? Is Vray that much ahead of the game?

andronikos916

in my opinion YES! rendertimes / quality is by far the best right now.

check evermotion.org gallery forum to see why...

VRray is very, very good. Especially if they can finish the 1.5 build sometime not too distant.
MentalRay I have used to some extent but was quite dissapointed with. I will look at it more in detail again some day since it now has some features that only Vray had at the time.

Always with the high end programs, booooo! Boooo!

What about the low cost programs, nothing is ever made for those, Cinema 4d, Hash Animation Master, Carrara 3d, etc.

High end prices came down! So many renderers, little time and money. People with bucks and experimention time will love this and the other renderers I bet.

haha as a long time vray user, all I can say is that they aren't always good about following through with time promises.

Maybe not with their exact "promises", but they certainly do deliver.
There are still people complaining that the official 1.10 release isn't out yet (1.45.70 beta is out for registered users), despite the fact that everything slated for the 1.10 release and much more, has been out for ages in incramental updates, officially now at 1.09.03r.

I think the guys at Chaos sometimes give themselves un-intensional bad press. They will anounce a future release version (say 1.1) together with a list a new functions that will be in it. Then through free incremental upgrades provide everything that was meant to be in version 1.1 without actually reaching that version number.

I've been using Vray for about 18 months, I've recived multiple upgrades, loads of new functions, not spent an extra penny, and best of all, not a single crash

all good points. I also have been using the renderer for quite awhile and have been playing with the latest internal beta, which is very nice, though has some issues. All in all, Ive been pleased with my investment, in fact very pleased, I was just saying that they have received some criticisms about their promises, deserved or not. :)
