Would ZBrush 1.5 (zSpheres!!) -> Messiah:Animate (maybe via obj export or something) be a reasonable workflow? I mean, can Messiah import & bone basic meshes, or do you have rig them in a "supported app"? Quick, there's only 2 days left! ;)
Messiah:Animate has WONDERFUL WavefrontOBJ support (somebody over at pmG who writes import filters has a clue!!)
I know also that M;A can import BVH as bones and also transferre mothin between bone sets.

From what I could see in the demo, rigging in Messaih is great. Largely trouble free. I don't think I'd want to bring in bones from anywhere else. It doesn't model, so you have to provide the mesh anyway.
