I have used DANEL for the antistropy on the reel.....

But with radiosity it looks somewhat different? Any ideas why this is?

The specularity in the Danel shader is basicaly the lumaschannel shader but made for your ease of use :) this however doesn't work the same with readiosity (and less lights I assume) then it does without (and more lights) If you are using the same lighting then I am not sure what is happening, ut basically I think it is because there is less lighting directly hitting it so most of its illumination is secondary or reflected light which doesn't get as bright

Thanks Kai.
So either I add smaller lights with less impact or fake the spec and reflection with an enviroment map....shall try once I have time.....bloomin' radiosity.....

Was this one of the issues addressed in SLA 2.5.2?

Well, since I am using 2.5.2......possbly not. Looks like increasing the reflectivity and adding a bit (not too much as it kills the image) of an enviroment map....it actually looks nicer than the original, will post it when done....ie..in 24 hours.....lol:(

Metal specular as chosen in a channel based texture relies almost entirely on specular highlight for illumination. This may be the case too with Daniel. Radiosity has no specularity, so illumination achieved entirely or mostly by radiosity will produce no specular highlights, and thus metals which rely on them won't look right. The workaround is to add specular only lights to your scene, or model the lights, give them very high luminant intensities, and have your objects reflect them recreating true specularity (specularity is a fake for reflections of high intensity objects).

Hope that helps. Additionally I think the procedural wood in your image is ruining the rest of it.

I suppose we have have to post everything in the wips gallery now etc and just post a link in here for the thread :hmm:

I wonder if the membership will go down any because of it.
