Ok before I start.
Yes I know there is better software out there to do this. I don't have access to it and I won't be getting it. (That's why I decided to post here in the after effects forum so I won't get "but you should use.... to do that" What I do have access to is After Effects 6.0 (upgrading is also out of the question), Photoshop CS and Premiere 7.0.

Now to make matters worse is that I have the footage already (From a client. ie. It is not possible for me to reshoot anything.) There was no clean plate taken and the camera moves during the shots.

I have tried a shot painting out the wires frame by frame in photoshop. Wires are now gone but replaced by a lovely (NOT) effect of flickering pixels moving up the screen.

Any ideas on procedure with the software mentioned.

I have attached an image of the shot I'm currently having trouble with. There are abunch of different shots totalling to about 40 seconds worth of footage.

Hi Petrik. How's Kiwi Land?

This is just an idea but if you duplicate your layer, and then offset by a frame or two, you should be able to use feathered masks on the top layer to cover your wires on the bottom layer. You may need many duplicate layers and touchups in PS to get this to work. Whatever you do, it looks like you are in for a lot of frame by frame work.
Good luck with it.
Damo.

It's not at all hopeless, it's just gonne be a lot of tedious work. :)

I think Damo's suggestion is pretty good.

You can also cut a clean slice of the tree from a still image, and then track it in manually, to fill out the hole where you have masked out the wire. Turn on motion blur on that layer. I know the term "track manually" makes one twitch, but it doesn't have to be perfect, when you're just filling out a small wire removal mask.

Cheers and good luck,
- Jonas

Unfortunatly it's not available to me with the budget they've got to work with. Otherwise it sure does seem to have been the solution.
