Here's a painting I did this afternoon using photoshop and a wacom tablet.. I used a photo for color/cloud reference.. Some cloud areas could use more work but this was more just practice getting used to the tablet..

Thanks for all the comments! :)

Here's another version, I just messed around with some of the colors and touched up a few areas.

Yeah, arizona has the most beautiful sunsets. Going to the top of south mountain :D Ahhhh the memories :)

edit: Oh I forgot, the top image is quite a bit better IMO. The bottom one is a little too intense I think.

Thanks for the comment.
I was going for a more surreal look in the 2nd painting.. more along the lines of a fantasy setting or something like that. I'm trying to get something nailed down for a project i'm working on. :)

The last image is great. It looks like some sort of inferno more than clouds, but that's what gives it it's power.
I would maybe merge some character into the scene, or add a little contours to the hills so they are not so black (but still dark:))

Thanks for the comment! :)
The black hills were more for reference points on the horizon. I'm just finishing up the modeling of the character and i'm still working on the 3d scene elements for the shot...
