well, when i try to bevel (or extrude) my 100-point polygon,
LW smiles, r e v e r s e s n o r m a l s of extruded portion,
and leaves me staring at my achievement!

Tripling polygons seems to help, but not always, and in any
case it's not the most elegant approach to a simple bevel.
So what's going on here friends?

And funny thing, despite this and other big and small annoyances, i still find LightWave extremely and mysteriously appealing...

Uh, simply select the poly/s you want to bevel, hit "B" and move your mouse. To extrude, select the poly/s, flip the poly/s "f", Extrude "E", and move the mouse.

I don't know what your problem is, but it's as easy as that.

what i'm trying to say is that when i bevel a polygon with
few vertices, things go as expected, but if the polygon has
many vertices, then the beveled polygons are
flipped, i.e. are facing inwards!

Of course i could flip them back, but it's a funny and distracting procedure for such thing as a simple bevel. It seems like a bug,
unless i'm missing something.

It's you. I never have problems with the Bevel tool. Try Smooth Shift or Extrude if you keep having problems.

Does the same hapens if you bevel outwards?
When beveling inwards points will start overlaping causing faces to flip.If that's the case select the fece and scale after extrusion.Or bevel precing ctrl and scale after. Can we have some pics?

Also, non-planars often give weird results, make sure it's not non-planer (it shouldn't really matter, but might as well do it the safe way)
