I hate working from photos, especially studio-lit ones, but I started this digital painting based on one because I thought it was what the subject wanted me to use as reference:

It turns out though that she's actually not as fond of the photo as I thought she was, and she's going to let me take some shots in natural light, which should be much more useful in painting a portrait of her.
So this version will never be finished, but I'm happy with parts of it and thought I'd post the thing anyhow.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some more flattering light on her, and maybe capture a more-lively pose next time I see her.
