View Full Version : RPG Style Cov Ops Soldier

This will be kind of weird to explain, but im a huge Enemy Territory Fan. So as a gamer, i always play and think, this game would be perfect if.......
So what i have here is 1 of 5 class models (Covert Ops) that i've modelled. He's basically supposed to be Enemy Territory meets futuristic soldiers meets Master server meets a nice slow build of Xp over time. He's basically a rank 10 of a 1-10 rank system i made up in my lil "What If" senerios.
He also has 3 other heads which ive not uved yet and a RPG style assault weapon i modelled that is fully upgradable from a basic modl.
Anyways, i've been bustin my ass on this for the past few days, and my vacation is over offically tommorrow so i thought i'd show off what i have so far.
Hope you dig :)
p.s. Thanks Stoo for uploadin this pic for me
Very cool, good stuff. Only one comment, the uniform seems a bit tight around his biceps.
How many polys/tri's is it? wireframe?

Beautiful work man! Great model, though can we see some wires and texture maps? The textures look great as well... Where's his weapon :D?

everything is pretty killer, but the foot part of the boots. they seem to be frankenstien boots, soles too thick. Give him smaller feet. he look pretty agile from the ankel up. make the bicept to forearm part of his uniform a lighter or darker green. do the same for the croch/ass area. put a green/drarkgreen us flag on the sholder peice and maybe a ranking some where. Could you post the textures? other than that, it's mighty nice.

Nice model, man! The only things I see that I personally don't like are firstly, the size of his feet, which seem kinda too large for the rest of his body, and secondly, the texture of the eye-pieces... But other then that, top notch stuff! :D

Thanks guys, ive already reworked his feet and legs and did some slight adjustments to his arms. The Skin is not finished yet, and his eyes will be on full illum when i get maps done.
Until i get my site up n runnin, i cant post the updates yet, but i will as soon as i can.

this is very nice and clean. good render by the way. just woundering the specs of this whole thing?? polys textre map size number?? you know, all the basic stuff.

really nice. maybe you should add some reflection or shading to the glasses and, as stated, make the feet a bit smaller, but it's top-notch all the same.

Hi ... some very nice work here. How many polies \ tris is it?
And do you do any work professionally and \ or part of a mod team?

OK, here's the specs:
Since he's not really game bound, but part of concepting out a game idea, he's fairly high poly, as i gave myself no limits, and due to the RPG nature he has a few maps
Nearly 5300 Tris with 1 head and all his gear on.
Just the body and the masked head version come in at 2922 tris
I did however opt him down from 10k out of habit.
THeres 1 body map, and 1 map for each head, 1 map for each weapon, so 1 smoke grenade, 1 pistol, and 1 knife. There will also be 1 map for his assault rifle. Then there is 1 map for all the pouches straps, holsters, and the c4 pack on his back. So thats.... 11 maps will all 4 heads and all the weapons, which 3 heads are not unwrapped yet and one weapon.

Thats ironic because as far as I know thats about the poly range our modification is looking for. That is ... without gear such as the main firearm and class-based ammunition \ pistol \ grenades.
You could probably rig him up and put him in HL2 if it ever gets released.
But if you're poly count includes a rocket launcher at say 1500 polies then you're pretty much spot on for Battlefield Vietnam.

Looks well done, congrats! Textures look really clean.
Oops should add the legs look alittle skinny but it doesnt bother me that much, I thought it was the style. Not everything has to be someone's static ideal of proportions =)

If he was a covert ops unit he would not wear rank! boots too big, kneepads too small. backpack is erganomicaly unnatural, it is straight backed and does not match the back of the soldier. it is also too blocky and likely to snag.

Wow! The textures are great and all the equips on his chest look cool! The model itself is really good, too.Looks like he's ready to go. =)

4 heads, some skin progress, and a rpg style weapon.

This is one of the best models game models i've seen. I love the direction you took your model in. I was going to create on like it, but this is perfect.
