The theme intro was a cruel tease! I want more! I wonder if the soundtrack will be purchaseble, sometimes they are. Other times, You have to rip them out of your beloved game (usually in so esotetic format too)

I should save me monies for the upgrade.

Its the same as the 2nd CD from the doom collectors edition.

I honestly don't think that 'Theme' was any good. It's generic nu-metal shit. A kick ass hard rockin' updated version of the originla theme would have ruled! I might record it myself.... when I do, I will post it here just for you Doom fans.

The atmosphere sounds on the site really did get me excited about the feeling of the game tho ... I think Doom3 could be pretty sweet...

I'm also looking forward to Half Life 2. These two games will MAKE me upgrade my PC. Something I have never done for a game before.

I was probably being overly optimistic about the song. ("So short...maybe its gets better?")

The original doom theme. e1m1. Who could forget that? If you do end up doing anything, Mr Clements. I'd certainly be one to be appreciative.

I think i'll wait for the demo. I will buy it. That much is certain. But i'd like to gauge just how much i need to spend. Kinda like asking Dad to buy the computer a 'soundcard' for the first doom game.

Just found it via another site. Sexy stuff. Although short. Quality could be better. But more than acceptable IMO. Much better stuff that trailer. More effects. Demons Dissolve!

I was all over DOOM and DOOM2 when they were 1st released. The look and play in those games really broke new ground and led the way for the whole FPS genre. I remember being jumpy in my seat in this flickering corridors hearing pinkies growling somewhere ahead.

After reading several interviews about Doom3 I began to feel let down. ID was sounding less resolved to break new ground; just another engine. Some of those interviews with Carmack and Hollenshead sounded dismissive (Gimmicks) then consiliatory (DOOM3 doesn't need that) of ragdoll and other staple effects in games I play now. Then the 4 player Multiplayer bit was a real surprise.

If the early previews are real and not hype and the tension atmosphere is built up in single player, I bet that ID is going to help sell allot of hardware in August and September.

Dude, what do you smoke? Really, I mean jesus can you next day air mail me some?

Just another engine? Do you actually have the faintest idea what actually goes into making a 3D engine let alone one like that? I mean your really talking like a conusmer right now. Let's be real here, most of the games of the past (3D wise) that were any good were based off of damn near every engine ID created. Quake 1, 2 & 3.

I think sometimes people should stop and smell the roses or actually just stop and really really look. What these professional game programmers do are right up there with some of the greatest things we have seen when it comes to master pieces like, Lord of the Rings movies, The Star Wars triology etc.

To just say "just another engine".....you go wash your mouth out youngman :)

But seriously, Afaik what Carmack has done is basically bestowed upon us the beautiful matromony of MATH, SCIENCE and ART. It gets no better than this when you look at it for what it is.

Kid Mesh you really sound like a fanboy now.. :P

But I tend to agree with you. ^_^

Even though Quake 2 and Half-Life got 96% in PCG and Doom 3 "only" 94% it's pretty freaking awesome.

Anyone else have any problems with it? Of course works fine in explorer.

ok back on topic. This game does look great seems like it must be using normal maps, first ever? The original game, scared me horribly. all those quiet hallways getting filled with strange and disturbing sounds, followed by some sort of demon attack out of nowhere. I will never make it throught this game, the web site was creepy enough!

I will never make it throught this game, the web site was creepy enough! I use firefox. And the flash site was giving me a spot of trouble. Like parts would load, but would play. so i'd have to close down the window and reopen until it was all cached.

Apparently the sound in doom3 is fantastic. Full surround. Failing that. May have to get some sort of surround headphones. (Should be able to get sweet headphones for the price of some average / standard surround setup.)

I too have fond memories of doom's sound. Of course i was at the age of "Should you really be playing that? Looks a little violent."

Damn, now i'm feeling nostalgic. And i long since lost my doom disks (and i sold Master levels for doom2). Maybe i ought to pick up the collectors edition. Would look great in Doomsday. (http://www.doomsdayhq.com/)

I can't wait for some local reviews to show up here. I'm expecting 96-98 / 9.5.
