Im looking for a good poly texturing tutorial
that explains how to cut, sew, relax ect ,
ive just recently begun working with polygons and texturing them is still mostly a mystery to me
any help is apprecaited

Can I texture the low res poly and then smooth it and the texture stays the same?

do your you uv on the low object...........after smooth your object and the paint it in deep paint 3d on your object smooth and after you can put your texture on the low version and when you smooth your object that wiil be fine for your texturing..........sorry for the english

yes.... in theory you are supposed to be able to texture a low(er) poly version and the smooth for rendering. In the real world, if you have a detailed and complex texture that has to fit exactly how you painted it... the "texture lo-rez then smooth"method will not work the way you might expect. You will find that you get major streaching and distortion, especially in areas of the model where there may be non 4 sided polys, or polys that aren't evenly distributed.
Apparently they may have fixed the way smoothing works in 4.5, so hopefully this was one of the issues that they fixed.
heres an example... look at the red dot in the smoothed version. As you can see it is distorted... is it me or should this not be happening?
