Mirai apparently has this ability to move components that are "farther in the chain", like in example, you have a low-poly sphere, one of it's faces has been extruded by a three times, now, if you select the four verticles of the first extrude and start moving/scaling/rotating, nothing happens to the other components in Maya, but atleast what the videos have shown, Mirai can do this and I've found this to be a nice feature.

Well, just a few minutes ago, I saw this clip: http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/WhatWeDo/maya/see/solutions/includes/MayaSubDs.wmv
At the end of the video, the guy just selects a few faces of the creatures finger, rotates 'em and the whole finger is moving... holy banana!

Now I want to ask, is that just a feature of subd's? If not, howhowhow? :)

hm, just watched the video.......really intestering, now I also wanna know how to do this :)

because I hate martins mirai videos when he select only some vertices and the whole finger rotates right.......:annoyed:

Exactly! It reminds me of the "Move and sew" tool with UV's (Or what was it called...), which somehow checks which of the two pieces is bigger, and then moves only the smaller one.
This would be so cool thing to have with other components too, such a time-saver.

All he is doing is dragging a selection box over the faces on top. When he does that the face on the bottom is also selected. If the four faces he has selected were converted to vertecies, he would have every vertex in the finger selected.

You also have a bunch of selection conversion tools and grow and shrink selection tools that can help you model more efficiently.

lol ok you are right.....but I still want these mirai tools :)

Good point CitizenVertex, but the trick is that he isn't converting 'em, I just watched it again to make sure, and I can clearly see that the front and bottom faces get highlighted, then he switches to translate -tool and moves the whole finger. I'm 101% sure the side faces weren't selected, but were moving.

Ah heck, what am I saying, just tried it out with Maya, and realized that the sidefaces don't need to be selected, but will move if both the top and bottom faces are translated, stupid me, sorry :)

But I'm still with iC4- and would like very much to have this ability ;) (I guess would be a bit too big thing to do with just scripting, propably have to learn C someday...)
