Here is my question. Are there any plugin for importing .dwg (3D-files) in to Maya.

The easiest way I have found was to open up the dwg files in MAX and then save them as .3ds and after that use the 3DS importer to get the stuff to maya, and then in maya scale the objects down to 0,001% and then save as a Maya file.

Now the thing is this, that a client have asked for mayafiles of a productline, currently only in .dwg format. There is about 700 product files to convert, so guess If I will be lucky if all I has to do is mail a pluging...

So... any ideas?

For a large number of files like this try Deep Exploration and select all dwg's and save as maya binary's. Otherwise you can import directly into maya with an obj or dxf. Plugs are free and available on highend3d.
Good luck,

iC4-: I dont think it can export to obj, but it can export to many others, but that does not realy help me, since the files is in dwg today, open them up in autocad and saving them as soething in AutoCAD is just as timeconsuming as open them up in MAX...when it comes to 700+ files.

ME3D: thnx, Im gonna look into that Deep Exploration, If that works my problem is solved!
