Casio Twincept(BX-24D-8BZEF) - Reworked textures and completed Animation
Hello guys,
The objective of this project was to recreate and animate the mechanics of this watch. The model is a mechanical hybrid of an omega and casio.I posted this model last year hoping to make it to the gallery, got plugged but couldnt make it since it lacked sufficent texture detail on the exterior and the animation was missing. So heres my second take on the model. The entire model is retextured and the animation is also completed.I hope you like it enough...
P:S : please turn on the volume for the animation ,the audio synch took me a while

ANIMATION:
EDIT: heres a much more compressed version, only 8 megs now...

really nice model.

great attention to detail and really smooth anim...

one thing i don't really understand is the scenario for the anim though...
the cup and plate etc. and tiled surface really don't do the rest of the work justice...
i can understand that you probably wanted to put them in to give some sort of sence of scale or whatever, but everyone knows how big a wristwatch is...

i think it would look a lot more classy on a plain bg like a studio setup or something.

thanks guys !!.:)

grafi: thanks man

sOreal:i agree with you about the studio lighting setup being a more classical approach to the animation, but i decided to create an environment around the hdri map(kitchen.hdr) ,hence the table top with tiles...also thought it might add a hint of scale to the whole thing, but i agree with you about the studio lighting setup with a plain bg being more professional.

Elvis75k:thanks man, yeah i think its available in europe as well.its not reall all that expensive either :)

Maxmillian: Thanks man,the model took around a month or so to complete, actually i had modeled it previously but i decided to retexture it and finish the animation now.the naimation too around 20 hours in a render farm with 67 computers, all managed by me alone...

Tomaa:will be sure to post more of my work very soon !,thanks

Cgstripe: thanks man,i hope so too...

your feeback is much appreciated, hope you like it...

JD

I just feel like you haven't shown enough of the detail in your work... we need more shots.

Just KIDDN' :D

Awesome really great... I haven't watched the animation, but damn... that some fine work congrats!

this reminds me of some of my past work. I'd spend months on a drawing, then accidentally misspell a word in the piece.

Is the time 9.37 or 9.30?

Regardless, your attention to detail is difficult to measure. Simply amazing work. What made you choose a watch?

07-16-2004, 09:46 PM
thanks guys...

gelero: hehe ,
Imatk:thanks man!, i will post more renders if thats what i gotta do..
iART:thanks man,i know what u mean. But the inaccuracy in time was intentional, just a subconscious attempt at adding to the realism and imperfection...:) .I am really disorganized and bad with keeping thetime even in real life, infact i have the same watch on my hand as i type this and its still 7 minutes behind the digital display ! :D
no more comments, come on guys !! :bounce:

Why do you STILL have the reference images mapped in there? Surely you should have "textured" those too.

jdsb
07-16-2004, 11:08 PM
i still have the refernce image in there ,not because i cant texture that little part in there, which i actually did try to as well... but because it looks better this way...thanks for your input anyway...
any other comments/feedback most appreciated guys..
thanks for your time...
gelero: hehe, yeah the song is from need for speed ...

This is breathtaking work , I had been following at Threedy forums.
I was expecting this to show up here as final work. This thing deserves front page.

Very inspirational, to see the amount of detail been put into this peice thru the hard work of JD.

This is 5 star. Nothing to crit at all.

Wait till he posts his CELLphone model - thats even better- amazing detail. JD you have to post that one too when its complete.

This guy is Insane, he is a robot actually!

what if you upgrade the small animation by zooming over a few details of seperate componets before assembly all in one.

you could do better I bet.

animate a target light by dashing over internal structures... luminating a bit more of running wheels, etc. well, its obviously time consuming hehe.. up to you man.. love your work!
