View Full Version : Virtual tour of 3000 year old Mummy Tour at The British Museum
Carm3D 07-16-2004, 08:43 AM A 3,000 year-old mummy has been seen from the inside without removing its wrapping via 3-D visualization technology created by Silicon Graphics. The corpse of the Egyptian priest Nesperennub underwent a virtual dissection, with the inside of the skull, spine and even his bone marrow able to be viewed. The resultant imagery is now being seen in an exhibit at the British Museum (http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/mummy/index.html).

LOL!
SGI's becoming weird... first, one of the best post-prod softs that runs in it was renamed (re-incarnated?) Mystika, (former Jaleo) with one of its implementations being named after the Egyptian god Ra ... and now they use SGIs to probe mummys ...
Nothing to do with the subject really, just thought it was a funny coincidence :)

A virtual tour of a 3000 year old tour? Wow...
Hey, someone had to say it, the wording on that title was a little funny (remove the second tour).
Anyway... cool stuff, too bad I'm not in Britain I'd like to see the tour. I'm near SGI though, maybe that'll do it .
