you just have to fix your texture so it's the same on the edges. you can use the clone tool in PS for that kind of operation.

you won't find a way to create UV's without havind the edge.

you mean that i've got to create seamless textures ?!

the thing is i'm working on GIMP now and i don't know which tool corresponds the CloneTool ... :hmm:

i think, another option would be, creating textures without seams via paintFX ?!

what do you mean by "you won't find a way ..." ? isn't there an efficient method to avoid seams at all ?
i thought it all depends on UV mapping ... i can't believe one's always got to fix those later on during post !

thanks once again sven

yeeeeh, GIMP's got a feature called "make seamless" ... it's not perfect yet, but much better now !

that's the way it is. if you think about the mapping of the sphere you'll get the idea that it's a planar file wrapped around. so where do you wana place the seams ? one you can point to the pole (but you still need to be aware of the pole) and the other one "must" be placed somewhere on the surface. no way out of this.

using the 3D paint Tool is a good way, yes

I just installed Red Hat Linux too, but I'm pretty sure I'm still going to wait for PhotoShop for linux before I totally convert from windows user to linux user. I'm not an expert in 2d, but the little I've learned from Photoshop, I'd like to keep... I hope Photoshop for Linux will come out someday.

I also installed linux some days ago......and between gimp and photoshop isn't really much difference.........same layer system brushes etc....I'm wondering if they are allowed to copy these things......
