Very cool concept man, I see a lo t of character in your sketch. I'm working on a Civil War character also, hopefully they turn out pretty cool, maybe we can throw em in a render together. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

thanks guys. here's a templet its a rough one. needs a little tweekin. But for the most part i'll get my shapes out of it. goin away for the rest of the weeek so won't have any modeling till next week. thanks for the kind words. gata run. peace

warbird- ya i want it to be kinda a cross between cartoony and not. so we'll see how it turns out.
heres an update. 1432 tris. still a ways to go. i should be able to finish in time.

Great concept and good start to the modeling, but i cant stop sniggering like beavis when i look at his arse / mouth! :scream:

andy - thanks man. well i'd like to give you something in response to the arse face but...heck it looks like a flabby butt. hehe. hopefully with the textures it will look less butt like and more like a wlarus with a civil war uniform on...that just sounds weird.
anyway. more when i can.got some 5 sides to get ride of i just noticed. Q's and C's always welcome. oh ya 2706 for tri's still have a gun to make and some pouches. if i have enough i may try a nap sack.

thanks dacheese. ya lots of great stuff in this comp. well here's quick update. been busy as of late during lunch. so here is the final mesh, on to unwraping.i may have too many tris in the legs.not enouph in the arms. i'll get some more angles when i can. 3268 tris total

Hey Dubge, looking nice - only crit (and I had this problem with my character) is that with the cartoonish proportions, real sized weapons won't work, he can't fit his chubby walrus finger into that trigger region...

ya i was thinking about that. what do ya think? make the gun bigger,just the trigger, or a bit of both? i'll fix it one way or the other. thanks man

Awesome character, great-looking mesh. For the weapon, you could try caricaturizing it. In other words, don't simply enlarge the weapon (it'll start looking pretty unwieldly) or enlarge just the trigger area (might look silly), but enlarge bits and pieces. Say, fatten up the barrel without elongating it, enlarging the trigger area, a hosrt and fat stock. Something along those lines.
Looking forward to seeing more progress. :)
