I started modelin' last night so heres the WIP, it's at about 1/3 of the budget right now, I might post an update later tonight or something.

here's a slight update from before I added so face detail and the jacket, oh, and I attached the head. triangulated right now it is 2018 faces. Plus I added some tail feathers.

Looking good. You may wanna try making the the 2 lower feathers shorter to give that curved wing appearance.

I added the hat and the accesories now and pretty much finished the head. I still need to do the gun. Right now triangulated it is at 2347 tris or something. I made the wings more curved as Elysium had suggested. After a bit more rersearch I'll put up a color comp of what the texture is going to be based off of. Then I guess i'll unwrap em and start the texture.

Lovley guy! It looks cool.
Perhaps you could add som more polys to the hands? They are after all very big. Insted of making all polys meet on the finger joints, and become triangles (instead of Quads), you could let one more "line" go around the whole finger. It might light and deform better that way.

The model is looking very nice right now, but I think the face has shifted to a more vulture looking face. It has to do with the beak shape and placement and the low eye. not a big deal, just maybe recheck your reference. Another thing I noticed is the thumb, maybe it needs to be shifted to a position opposite the fingers? Maybe this is not an issue, because it appears you are going for a more cartoony look. I must say I am looking forward to seeing him with textures!

I made some adjustments to the face like raising the eye and shortening the beak, plus I made some more cuts on the fingers (green) and changed the pants because mine were just done wrong and didnt match the ones actually worn (yellow) added his neck scarf (red) and gave him that thing thats on their hats (blue) dont know the name. and I threw a back view on this time. I dont think I understand the thumb opposite comment. Thanks for the comments.

well, i am using this http://www.walika.com/sr/uniforms/p5.htm but I am not using one particular regiments style, I'm kinda mixing a couple and stylizing it a bit.

Nice job so far with the textures. Here is some eagle pics, you can see the eyes are more binocular style(pointed forward), and the beak is pointed and kind of hook shaped. Of course you guy is looking pretty close, this is just detail stuff, and having the beak less hook like makes his personalty softer too. I do like your eyebrows, they can help show his personality. What I was talking about the thumb is basicly it looks too flushed with the fingers. Just a nitpick really, it works for your character. Another style would be to think of a kung-fu grip hand:p

thanks for the pics, I changed the face to have the eyes facing more forward(update above) and those pics reminded me that I forgot that it was a bald eagle and they have the brown feathers on the rest of thier body. Thanks.

nice color scheme, will you be rigging or just dong the textures? i think it would be nice to have a quick animation with it. where is the rifle?

Nice to see the pic on uniforms! As a non american, I m not so home on the revulutionary fashin style. Actually, when talking revolutionary soldier, I probably would thing "Frensh revolution" and "tricolour"...
As for critics: It looks nice. But perhaps the beak could be a little thinner at the end, from the front view. I would make it look sharper and meaner and more eagle-like!

Lookin good - i like the proportions - its has a lot more character than, say, a man with an otters head stuck to it!
Nice, neat poly flow, though i think those belt things on his chest will give you grief when rigging because their topology is different to the body.

Thanks Andy, yeah I wasn't sure how the straps would deform, i've only really rigged a couple of characters(and only in max) so it should be a good learning expierience for me to get better with rigging in maya(and in general). Hopefully I could just move verts around or make cuts to get them to work right. If not i'll try something else.

very nice eagle, first time that somebody choose to keep the animals shape than transform it intto a more human like shape. Very good bro, go on I' cant wait.
