Hi

I need to know something about texture painting for game.
This is my first game model. I modeled it for my personel work.

I am preparing a map for this model. It is 1500 X 1500 pixel
( I am working on this resolution ) than I save it to 512 X 512 pixel.
But in this resolution this map looking bad. Can you tell me something
about this job ? Where is my mistake ?

probably you've scaled up your texture to make it as 1500. For most of the game when you get it to real close up, the texture resolution is 1024. For further it will be 800 and 512. Check out how Halflife do and you 'll understand. Also that most of the game is using repeatable textures. That means if they have a surface like your model have, probably they are tialing a 1024 texture instead of 1024 wrap the whole thing. Also keep in mind when you do unwraping, maximas usage of your texture map.

All game textures must be powers of two (64x32, 128x128, 512x512, etc.), that's what the graphics cards are designed to handle. Tiling and mirroring are smarter options than 1-to-1 mapping.

Some good info in this thread,

I posted some tips for another artist in a similar situation to you...

Also, it might help to post your work in the Games WIP section... you'll get more feedback from game artists.
