CGTalk - Combining SubD's

Hi there, ...
i've got 2 small questions:

- is there anyway to combine 2 SubD surfaces, with a smooth transition?! For example 2 spheres, that would become an egg or something !? ...
- is there something possible like boolean stuff with SubD's ?!

I just delete intersecting faces then 'subd attach' or convert to polys and do all your editing there then convert back to subds...the latter saves time and probs
