View Full Version : Plugin :: Select Parent
Geespot 07-12-2004, 10:43 PM I release a new free plugin for Cinema 4D.
It will select the parent object of the selected object.
To see why this could be useful, have a look at this thread
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=154724
Really easy to use, simply select the plugin from the plugins menu, and thats it!
Assign the plugin to a keyboard shortcut for increase workflow
You can downlaod it from my site
http://www.spot4d.co.uk/
It should work for Cinema 4D 8.x, and possibly 6.x and 7.x, I have only tested with 8.2 so I can't be positive it will work for other versions.

good start, my suggestion is that you do some dearches on pickwalking (not sure what other things its calle dbut a lot of maya users use the term pickwalking) and perhaps expand the funtionality to not only select parents but actually travel through the heirarchies using keyboardkeys

The problem with that is Cinema 4D already has the arrow keys assigned for something else. Also, it wasn't designed for keyboard entry. I didn't want to have a gui for the plugin, but If I wanted extra functionality it would require one :(
And as you can already travel through the heirarchy with the keyboard, I don't really see much point.
