Use the task manager to quit the qttask process and rename the qttask.exe file in your quickTime directory to something else like 'qttaskBkup.Bkup', reboot your pc and it should work ok.

Maybe you've played something on a removable disk drive and quicktime wants to connect to it when it starts up, but cant find it.

I hate when that happens. If I remember right you can fix it by putting a disk back into the drive when it asks. Any disk it doesn't matter. After you click okay and everything is cool. Then close Quicktime. Remove the disk.

Now you should be able to launch QT again without is asking about the disk.

I think the problem comes when you have something in your cd drive then you watch a quicktime movie from anywhere on your computer (or could be off the cd  ). When quicktime starts with a cd in the program sees that. If you then remove the cd and try to play a quicktime movie from your harddrive it looks for a cd even though your playing off of the harddrive.

I think that a reboot without anything in your cd player will fix the problem.

I've had the problem myself, but I could be wrong about how the error comes around. Actually, having it right now. I'm just looking for a way to get rid of this problem permanently.

I found the solution for this little problem if anyone comes across it again.

Eric above got it right. It's because you have opened a movie from some sort of removable drive, and QuickTime has put a reference to that drive in File > Open Recent. To fix this, get past the error message (entering some sort of CD into the drive is what I did), and once you're at the QuickTime player screen, go File > Open Recent > Clear Menu. I got to say, this is a REALLY annoying bug :banghead:.
