I'm having a hard time with this one, I've got a homepage hijacker on my computer and I can't get rid of it. I've tried adaware, spybot, spy sweeper and norton and it is never removed from my system, I've also tried editing my registry, but also to no avail. Every few minutes my homepage gets changed from www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) to about:blank. Then I start getting tons of popups, even tho I have popup blockers on. So far my research indicates I can only get rid of this with a new program called adaware away, and there is no trial or free version. Almost leads me to belive that the company that makes this software is doing this on purpose, hoping that people will buy thier software. At any rate it's really really starting to tick me off, and I'd like to get rid of this so any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

well. i _guess_ that you are using internet explorer.

the nice browser from m$, with a looot of holes and vulnerabilites, with no default popup blocker till now, with a bunch of insecure activex scripting stuff, and so on, and so on.

i really dont get it why people still use internet explorer when there are so fine browsers like mozilla, firefox, or even opera. using outlook is exactly the same. a lot of the world's viruses could only spread because of these two products (and the operating system they are attached to)

so, my advise, get mozilla or another browser, your problems will magically disappear ;)

use cws shredder and regain your normal browser configuration. Then learn how to use the "hosts" (http://accs-net.com/hosts/how_to_use_hosts.html) file to eliminate almost all internet advertising from your browsing permanently. And don't download/run those applets from porn sites.

I would highly advise against you making registry edits. They do indeed work and in some cases are the only solution to removing trojans, but if you don't know the difference between HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE you're more likely to cause permanent damage to your system. Registry edits are not for casual users.

Of course, if all this sounds too complicated, Just go get Mozilla if you don't like tinkering around with the OS.
