View Full Version : Speed modeling session : theme : Chimeras
Chimeras are fictional creatures made of a compound of different animal parts. You have to model such a creature (you can go for humanoid) in up to 4 hours; focus on the compound aspect (if you only model a head, it has to be formed of elements of at least two animal origins).
This session runs until monday, July the 26th.
Post a wip image after 2 hours of work , and a final image made of different angle views of your model and level 0 wires after up to 4 hours .
Have fun!

Just a "Q"
If we model the whole animal.
whats the MIN number of diffrent animal compunds needed? and the MAX?
ASW
min is two.
max is... mm.. just as much as you can since the different origins are recognizable.

Anyone one know who made this statue?
http://www.peterpan.it/picmuseo/chimera.jpg
it's an antique statue, prolly from like 5th century bc, found in Arezzo, Italy.

Looks like the original creature had the head of a chimpanzee, a head of a gazelle, a mane of a sheep, body of a lion, and a snake for a tail.

There is also a reference to Chimeras in Impossible Mission 2, it being the biological weapon.
"fire-breathing she-monster with a lion's head and a goat's body and a serpent's tail; daughter of Typhon"
Sound's like my ex girlfriend!
Just a bit of trivia.

u should visit my website www.jpixel.com (http://www.jpixel.com), the pics are a little old but I've got a chimaera, pegasus and bellarophon there!
well i have to go - i didnt get nearly as far as i wanted to. i know its not exactly a chimera by definition! but i was thinking more along the lines of a mrs oct kind of reincarnated. got the arms working pretty good - too bad they're backwards with the sucktion caps. and they are ment to be snakes for the fingers on them - not the most original idea i know but it kept me entertained. oh well got to go!
Im on this one too. I got the perfect idea for a chimera. It's scary as hell.

Wow, I love the style of your creature berko.
I'm feeling a little inadequate now. Anyway here's how my griffin's coming along after 45 mins - have just about blocked it out:
http://www.tomclive.co.uk/griffin.jpg
Of course as everyone knows it's a cross between a lion and an eagle. It's my family's crest so seems appropriate.

Hey guys... after yesterday evening's work on head.. i got time to sit in to today again... last evening i spent 2 hrs.... today my challenge was to finish up the WHOLE F***KING muscular body in another pending 2 hrs.:D
it was really a challenge for me.. finally i pushed it up from there and finall in about another 2hr. 25 mins. i was able to complete the body.. in that duration i even had 2 cups of tea.. and SIDE BY SIDE was chatting with my friend too.. SO it took those 15-20 mins. extra...
BUT FINALLY I CAN SAY... ITS DONE..!!:scream:
hope next time i'll be able to SHRINK it to exact allotted time.:)
SO IT BECAME A SEMI- CHIMERA...
