Okay, I have finally finished my 7000 frames of my animation and I will now go into After Effects to create the final movie to burn on a DVD. What should I export the movie to? (file extenstion: .avi, .mov, etc...) in order to have it play on a DVD. Or does it not even matter? Thanks.

It depends on which software you'll use to create the DVD. After Effects itself can't do that. Most DVD authoring programs will require a certain format and convert that to MPEG2 internally, it really just depends on the one you intend to use.

But generally I'd expect you can't go wrong if you output to MPEG2 now...

Stefanminning is correct, it will depend on your authoring application.

Which one are you using?

I am using Sonic 5.0 to burn onto a DVD. I have tried to burn already with using quicktime movies and sorenson 3 compression and it just turns out okay. The color on the DVD is kinda different then the color on the origanal .mov file. Any help please?

No, don't use Quicktime to burn DVDs. Sonic will convert those files to MPEG2 anyway, so you'll lose quality twice on the way! I'm sure Sonic comes with a manual that should tell you these things, no...?

I get the problem with the color difference too, occasionally. It seems to depend on which MPEG encoder you're using. The one in Premiere (Mainconcept, I believe) tends to desaturate things a lot, so you might want to prevent that by upping the saturation in your footage a little.
I don't think there's anything else you can do, it's just trial and error until you find the settings you want to keep.

I dont know what other format I should use. The best is .avi with no compression I think but my file is then 7GB and wont fit onto a DVD. And I thought cinapek would work but it makes the picture all fuzzy, and I have no clue what to do. I think I have tried all the formats and compressions unless I am doing something wrong here, Im not sure what is going on.

One of the most important things in motion design:

Never compress during your workflow. Compression is always the last step.

Render out in an uncompressed avi. Your authoring tools will surely be able to fit the file on dvd by calculating an optimal data rate of your file, so that (nearly) 100 % of your dvd will be used. It will calculate the data rate by dividing the size of your dvd (4,7 GB) through the time of your animation (seconds) and set the highest possible data rate.

When you render out an uncompressed file, you get another advantage:
Imagine youŽd like to recompress it (Web, CDrom). In this case you can make use of your uncompr file, so that filter, effects and so on didnŽt have to be re-calculated, just the needed format change.

Thank you very much for the help. The only problem ios that our office DVD burner is not on my PC. Therefore I would have to copy it over the server onto another PC and with it being 7GB that would probably take about the whole day. But thank you.
