Ok so for some reason my FX5700 wont work w/ Maya..refresh rates issues in certain windows....I've concluded to 3 cards i should trade in for... Tell me ur opinions. I'm running an AMD 64 2800 on an Asus K8V mobo w/ 512 Ram. I use this mainly for animating and modelling in Maya 6.0 and some gaming. (gaming isn't important..but i'd like the option)

-PNY GeforceFX5900SE: 128MB - $275 cdn

or

-ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256MB (I've heard Radeon is not the way to go for Maya, but a friend has this card..and he says its fine) - $235 cdn

or

-PNY Quadro4 380 XGL: AGP 8x, 64 MB DDR SDRAM -$230 cdn (i hear Quadros aren't good for games @ all)

I got $245 in credit w/ my trade in.....
Ur Opinions r welcomes....and yes i know this topic has been overdone...but atleast i've narrowed it down to 3..the right 3!?!?..i dunno....

I would go for the quadro if you are going to run maya.

that quadro cards is bad for gaming is bull****
I have a quadro 4 900xgl and I'm playing the latest games without problem.

sure it doesn't support DX9, but I'm not complaining. I'm not a gamer :)

Before you buy/trade in for a new card check which drivers you are using!

I'm using a FX5900 and installed the newest possible drivers thinking i would get tthe best performance.

Use the older 45.56 drivers, these work fine for me and have absolutly no problems.

The newer drivers +45.56 gave me refresh rate problems, artifacts and the graph editor was unusable.

PNY GeforceFX5900SE: 128MB - $275 cdn
I think this would be your best bet.
SoftQuadro it to an FX3000 if you're having driver problems.

Where did you find that price?
