hi,

I am trying to create splines off cinema 4D instead of illustrator.
But the problem is, I dont seem to be able to use nurbs on grouped splines.
for instance. I want a square hole right in the middle of a circle spline.
So that when I create a loft nurb, or an extrude nurb, there will be a square hole in the center. I grouped a square and a circle and tried to place it inside the nurb layer.... I also tried using bolean (A minus B) and convert them to outline. but none of them seem to work.

Anyway, so far, the only way I can think of is using minus front from adobe illsutrator and then export it to cinema. But I believe that there should be a better way doing it. Please help. Thanks.

Actually, I just tried it and it works just fine.

All you have to do is loft two objects, then subtract one from the other with a boolean.

Works fine.

hahaha.... what the hell am I thinking about... That rings the bell :P

One more thing. is it possible at all to combine 2 splines? I remember when I was doing the tutorial off the software, There was something like "preserved group" when I import illustrator files. Do you think there is anything to do with that as well?

thanks again for your help.

I know there is... in the XL6 manual (I use 6.3) they have a bit about using combined splines for Metaballs...

I'd look in your manual for that.
