View Full Version : What's wrong with my internet connection?
Everything is fine ACCEPT when I try to goto a search webpage like google, yahoo, alltheweb, or altavista. It gives me a "no page found". Of course I can come to this site and I can goto any sites that are under my favorate places, but I just can't goto a site that's has a search engine. Is there anyway I can fix this?
Edit: I just realised I can goto webcrawler and askjeeves...but I also can't goto a couple of my favorite places.

Run Ad-Aware - there might be some crap installed causing your problem.

sounds like you may have the dreaded coolwebsearch trojan or similar.
try getting cwshredder from here> http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
(if you can open the link) and see if that helps.

It'll show you any registry 'tweaks' for I.E. Save the results log as a txt file and post it up here - someone is bound to spot anything amiss.

I had a problem very similar to this before and it would redirect me to a 404 page but it was lylic and purple? It would then provide links to google et al but then throw up a million popups. Eventually search bars and other random stuff were being installed without any warning. I never actually found the cause but I imagine someone had hacked the registery. If you can get to google with the IP address (ping google from command prompt to get address) then you have the same problem as I used. Ended having to format and re-install.
