View Full Version : Need Suggestions on Cards, not a comparison per se

Unlike threads asking for a grudge match between ATi/nVidia; this decision is purely down to economics, and I'm simply not knowledgable enough to make the purchase without some empirical feedback. I had a Radeon9500 Pro before I sold it 2 weeks ago. Among these cards, which one is best bang for the buck?

Maya and Photoshop is numero uno, but light gaming is also on the menu.

Asus Radeon 9200SE 128MB $70.00
Asus Radeon 9200SE/T $66.00
Asus Radeon 9600SE 128M $110.00
Asus V9520Suite FX5200 128MB DDR $150.00
Asus V9520TD FX5200 128MB DDR $113.00
ATI Radeon 9200 128MB DDR $121.00
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 128MB DDR $135.00
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 256MB DDR OEM $145.00

MSI FX5200TD-128M $84.00
MSI FX5200VTD-128M $139.00
MSI FX5600 VTDR128M $159.00
MSI FX5600XT TD128 $142.00
MSI FX5600XT VTDR128 $152.00
MSI FX5700LE 128M $145.00

PNY GF FX5600 Ultra 128 $187.00 (BIG MAYBE)

PowerColor Radeon9550 256M $132.00 (What the heck?! better than a 9500 pro ?)

Aopen FX5500 128M $114.00

Canadian currency.

Thank you in advanced,

yea.... sorry to say, but your 9500 pro will outperform just about every card you listed there... so im not sure why you sold it...

stay away from the 5200s and the 9600se if you are using maya...if you can spend more, go with a 5700 Ultra, 5900xt or 9600xt...but from your choices, you can go with the 5700LE or the 9600 128/256MB
