you dont install it in maya 3 ... you need a converter that can export the rendered frames to PRM ...
the one for Maya is called

Mayaman made by animal Logic

he probably is talking about renderman artist tools ,

Just a friendly bit of help.Do you run both FLEXlm license daemons

It depends on how you have Maya installed, you might have it lock node so you don`t need flexLM? I think..

Renderman I`m not so sure about, it probably has FlexLM so I would think it would need a server running with a correct license yeah.

Yes renderman needs a license running and so does maya unlimited. Do they both see the same license or do both daemons need to be running if not which one and how do you install renderman as maya plugin when it is not in the plugin list?

I`m not too hot on the Daemons side of FlexLM, but I would think that Renderman needs its own ( I don`t know ) so you should have Maya installed first, once that is running, get Renderman running.

I know for certain that Renderman isn`t ever going to appear in the Maya plugins list. Renderman is only the actual renderer.
I would think that if you had a converter ( or whatever its called, translator or something ) that would appear in the plugins list.

What you will need is what people have mentioned before. There are probably a few converters but the most commonly used are MTOR/RAT from Pixar and MayaMan from Animal Logic. If you don`t have either of these you won`t be getting much out of Renderman ( as they right the .ribs )

Can I just ask.. Why renderman? as you are finding it hard to install then you`ll not find it easy to use. You should stick with the Maya renderer or find an alternative ( the Beaver Project for example.. Maya->LW converter, much more friendly than Renderman! )

Good Luck to you.

All is exports is the geometry data. Any shaders will be lost. unless you want to recreate them in PRman or use Mayaman to exports all of the shaders with the .rib
