View Full Version : Quadro FX 1100
ddjix 07-10-2004, 01:52 AM Hi there. I just bought a quadro fx 1100 on ebay. I downloaded the drivers from the vendor's site (PNY). Point is i don't see much difference with my old video card which cost 10 times less... Is there a particular setup with these mid-high end cards?
Pentium 4 2.4G, 512 ram, windows XP
Lightwave 8.0, Motionbuider 5.5 Photoshop 6
Thanx. If there is any link that adress that topic, please, let me know...

well it depends on what card you had before. and how is it the same as the old one? do you experience slowdown in certain operations? if you do you should make sure that its not CPU intensive such as simulations. if your old card was something like a geforce FX 5900 or equivalent then you wont see much of a diference. if it is a really old card then maybe the GPU is not the bottleneck.

If you can enable anti aliased lines in Lightwave then you'll definitely notice a difference with the Quadro FX. :)

Yeah that's the type of card i had before. If so, why do these cards cost so much. Got mine for 450$ on e-bay! How do you unleash the power of the beast?

Got some bad news for you ddjix: The Quadro FX 1100 is based on the GeForce FX 5700 Ultra chipset and for LightWave use is actually slightly slower than a GeForce FX 5900 - LightWave doesn't use overlays the way Maya does or have special drivers such as nVidia's "Maxtreme" for 3DSMax - as such it makes little difference whether you buy a Quadro or a GeForce - sorry :hmm:
